The CHRIST the KING Endowment for Mission Fund’s purpose is to receive, manage, and distribute funding for mission, outreach, scholarships, special church and community projects supported by CHRIST the KING Lutheran Church in North Lake Tahoe.
The fund is managed by a three member “Endowment Committee” appointed by the CtK Council and committee membership is renewed annually. The committee annually determines the amount for distribution. Both principal and income from gifts to the endowment fund are to be used for projects and programs recommended by the endowment committee and approved by the CtK church Council. Distributions are to support the uses, projects, and programs consistent with the stated mission and focus of the endowment fund.
The Foundation Committee will annually present to the CtK Annual Congregational Meeting a financial report and a list of the approved distributions.
How can I contribute to the Endowment
- Gifts of capital: cash, property, stocks, bonds, real estate, or personal property
- In recognition of – gifts may be given in memory of loved ones and friends or in honor of birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, or other special occasions or events.
- Bequests – gifts of capital provided in your will or trust
- Life Insurance – the endowment can be named as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or you may gift a paid up policy to the endowment
- In trust for – a trust can be created to provide funds for the endowment
A gift to the endowment qualifies for a current income tax charitable deduction or for an estate tax deduction. Donors can realize even greater tax savings by giving an appreciated capital asset instead of cash, because this allows them to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation. Fund donors are noted on our webpage of perpetual gifts to the CtK Endowment for Mission Fund. In addition, the committee is considering draft ideas to permanently recognize giving. Ideas range from a memorial garden, to a plaque in the church narthex with engraved names. Additional ideas can be sent to the committee through the church office at office@ctktahoe.net. The CtK Endowment for Mission Fund is administered as part of the endowment funds managed by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. The TTCF is available to answer any questions about their administration of the fund and is also able to assist in directing your gifts to the CtK Endowment for Mission Fund. I’m in!
